I see a monster in the darkness Day and night its presence looms And there it stalks out in the silence A visage of impending doom The monster speaks, its words implicit But I hear them clear as day And the reaction they elicit These nagging thoughts won't go away I get this feeling in my body There's an emptiness inside I get a sense I'm slowly rotting But by the whispers, I abide And now the darkness is around me I'm the monster's easy prey It's voice, it grows, it's all surrounding I know it's leading me astray But I will stay here in my room And I can't help but be consumed By the monster as it feeds A gaping wound that does not bleed An aching that just won't recede I don't deserve what I need It digs its claws into my mind Planting thoughts that twist and bind Ignore the pain, ignore the signs Push down the hunger, keep it confined I make a resolution To get what I deserve Caught in my mind's delusions It's leading me to starve But I will stay here in my room And I can't help but be consumed No, I can't help but be consumed
