I know you've seen more than you could have understood at the time It's by design Your mind is destined for greatness Patience A virtue they say But you hate waiting Constantly contemplating how to speed up the task Relax Sit your ass in the corner You're on timeout Everyone thinks you're disciplined because you don't wild out Learnt how to take control of perception Had no choice Controlling the narrative even if you had no voice For years didn't speak Thought you were a mute You were traumatized young I mean before you had a clue No fault of your own But guilt hits you deep Recurring dreams every night Amazed when you can sleep A leader Not a sheep But understood when to follow Sorrow left you hollow each day and their tomorrow Borrow Rather not Held on to what you had Abandonment issues Grateful for mom and dad Bore witness to acts so malicious So young but that wasn't no kid shit Had nothing to do with you but you lived it You endured some underground olympics You would live in your own head Never had your own bed Frustrated you leave red Return and feel Feeling numb to the outside Too much on the inside Pent up and compressed down But you still smiled Cared more about others than you did yourself Bottled emotions up and left them on the shelf The right thing to do always intriguing to you Skepticism since a yute Adults thought it was cute Too acute too young was never taken serious And so you'd brush them off with I'm too smart period Periodically checking in to see if they'd change If one person had listened it would have made your day
