You always were such a good dog Since that day you came to me Up there at the pack station Around 9,000 feet The smallest of the litter But that wasn't stopping you Fearless as a wolf And smarter than some people that I knew You never caused me any trouble Never chewed up my shoes Always told me when you had to go outside Only barked when you needed to You knew you were always coming with Across the country or to the grocery store All road trips count If you can put your head out the window Now my faithful old pal We've put some years behind We're getting older every day And now we're running out of time I see that limp's getting worse And your muzzle is going gray Your hearing is shot You'd rather sleep now than play But you still follow me around Even though it hurts to walk I'll always take you with me Don't mind helping you into the truck I'll always love a dog named Jo I hate to think our time is coming to an end It won't be the same without you Man has never known a better friend
