Burnt Up Shoe

I asked the cards about you Saying, "Tell me how she feels" But the cards wouldn't answer So I tried to read my orange peels I could swear that they said that you loved me Though I can't say for sure how I knew When I asked those peels how I felt They told me that I loved you So I turned back to the cards again Saying, "Tell me what to do" They told me to stop thinking of you So I boiled those cards for stew Then I tried to read the leaves of my tea Saing, "Help me if you could" But the tea leaves weren't helpful They just told me my stew was no good So I threw my dice and read the stars But they wouldn't tell me what they knew And I thought I might get some answers When I burned my favorite shoe All that got me was a burnt up shoe And I still didn't know what to do So, I'm just gonna have to be patient 'Cause tonight I'm gonna see you All I got is a burnt up shoe I don't know what to do Just gonna be patient Tonight I'm gonna see you
