You slam on the breaks cause the light just changed Now you'll be late for your afternoon game You curse your bad luck and how this stop Has ruined your entire day You stand in line with a cart full of things That you don't want and that you don't need But you bought anyway out of boredom and greed And this line is too long, it's always too long And the radio never plays a good song What a rotten day this turned out to be Today the sun is beaming down But that makes it too hot to run around But then it's too cold when the sun goes away So you end up spending the rest of your days Staying in on your couch Cursing the weather and your bad luck A child in Gaza plays with his toys In the rubble and dust of somebody's home The his head jerks up and his heart skips a beat When he hears a drone fly overhead But it falls to the ground 2 blocks from his street The child gives out a big sigh of relief And goes back to playing with his toys Yes today is a great day filled with great joy A young girl sings along with the band At a concert given in Jerusalem But her hair stands up and her head snaps back When she hears a loud crack from somewhere in back But it's only a bottle of soda she sees She's relieved to go home when the music is done No one's been tortured or slaughtered today It's been a great day for sure Life is precious No time to waste But unfortunately we realize both too late
