It's easy to hurt but harder to help From history's pages what have we learned Rage will trump reason, common sense is at risk It's been beaten to death by our own ignorance The threats and the fears that we have today Have not changed one bit from age to age Our weapons get bigger but our motives stay small Our reasons are petty but we still want it all Slaves in the South a mistake for us all But before you point fingers let's all recall The factories and mines that powered the North Treated workers like slaves till the unions came forth Is it better to take and end up with waste Or learn how to share before it's too late It's not black and white so open your eyes To see all the colors don't be fooled by the lies We're not all right and we're not all wrong We don't sing in harmony but we sing the same song
