priorities

From my bed I stumbled My fingers fumbled to find the chords To play the notes I heard the night before As I lay sleeping A song so sweet,a song so true When I awoke I knew what I had to do Learn to play the song for you So I sat bolt upright in bed But I couldn't find the key Thoughts were jumbled in my head Of all I had to do that day And no matter what I did That melody washed away So I got up and walked into the kitchen To get a cup of Joe I paced up And down, rubbed my hands, tapped my feet Wracked my brain But I could not find that sweet refrain So I opened up the door and went outside I looked up at the sky The sun was rising and painted the clouds A blazing orange hue The spaces between them clear and deep A holy shade of blue An eagle circled up above Soaring high and mighty Mockingbirds sang out their songs Dew was shimmering on the lawn Lilacs filled the air with there sweet perfume When I went back inside That melody came back to me So I picked up my guitar and began to play Note for note,I didn't miss a beat The whole damned day Now that I know my priorities I can play this song forever For you..for me..and for anyone who wants to listen Clear your head
