what's it matter,the past??

So what's an hour..it's 60 minutes Then what's a minute..it's 60 seconds What's a second..well that's very fast So what's it all matter..not much if they just die in the past Time is such a waste of time look at all I've wasted Worrying about the time that's left and not the ways to spend it Am I so afraid of dying that I do no more living I think so much of what I want that I do no more giving I pretend to live forever even though I know it's not true So I lie and say tomorrow I'll find time to call you So what can make it last ...I mean forever So what is the past...an ancient river And what is the future,,,A shadow in the night So what's it all matter..we need the past to give us light We live and die every day and drop our deeds along the path Stumble forward in the dark as if forever we will last We have to heed the deeds we did and remember what they sowed Or else we stumble off a cliff and the future leaves us cold And alone with the ghosts of our regrets of what we could have done If we had listened to the past and not partied in the sun
