The Roads Became Rivers

Well, the roads became rivers When I woke up today And when I walk outside, I shiver I'll just stay inside today And I thought I saw a flivver Trying to leave it's driveway When the roads became rivers After I woke up today Oh, the roads became rivers As I felt that aching pain Element's not a forgiver From all that stinging rain And I don't see a sliver Of life, I'm goin' insane When the roads became rivers As I felt that aching pain It got to the point When I couldn't see the ground So I made a raft and went on my way And when I tried to pinpoint An unflooded town There was none, so I guess I'll have to stay Oh, the river kept on rising As the rain fell on down And increase of the lake's sizing With nobody to be found It's as if God's sanitizing The human race as we drown And when the ocean started rising The rain kept falling down Now, it's far past the point When I can't see the ground I'm on my raft, still going on my way I'm still trying to pinpoint That unflooded town But there ain't none, so I guess I'll have to stay Now, it's a world of water As I look around today And me without a daughter I'm just trying to stay Trying not to face the slaughter But I'd best be on my way Oh, the roads became rivers of water When I woke up today
