A World Disenchanted

The infinite sea of mystery Upon which our small island of knowledge floats It threatens our power and threatens our pride And so it must always be denied When just one story is in front of the veil Anything old or new becomes a fairy tale But the elephant leg feels like a tree So the blind men argue over what they can't see A world disenchanted The sacred now maligned We think we've grown up But we're just pretending to be divine And so it goes, stone hearts affect minds We only look for what we want to find We want control, and so we twist the light We make the rules so that we always feel right But when the light is bent, what we see is skewed So, what is old must now be seen anew I'll no longer bow to your campaign To make lies seem wise and the truth insane So take your drugs to feel all right And keep you happy in your tragic plight A world disenchanted The sacred now maligned It's too much to carry For such a fragile mind And so I see, minds distort souls And life is found when we let our pride go
