What kind of world did I befriend Where climbing up is to descend And those who win end up so low Because the seeds we plant won't grow How did I become so blind The enchantment is gone, but I'm riding its wave Even though I've seen right through it The illusion of strength, my character lie Which keeps me chained up to it I was looking for life, but I was looking away I was enamored by the decay I have been brought to my knees The thin facades projected as real Insanity with a strange appeal The vacuum inside is covered up As I hope the lie will be enough How did I become so blind The enchantment is gone, but I'm riding its wave Even though I've seen right through it The illusion of strength, my character lie Which keeps me chained up to it I was looking for life, but I was looking away I was enamored by the decay I have been brought to my knees The script that we have all been sold Is leaving our hearts hard and cold The rage within begins to show As the toxic rancor begins to flow And here I stand up against the tragic cul-de-sac Once again, faced with the fullness of my lack I'm on my knees, trusting the one place I can stay Let go the dream, and let the fire burn it all away When the smoke finally clears Something new can appear In the ashes of my dream Is a way to be redeemed
