No One Will Ever Ask

I've done all I could to achieve what I should I put on their roles to accomplish their goals And once I arrived, I felt so alive But it wasn't long before that feeling was gone It doesn't take long to understand There is a cost to their demands And nothing is free in this life We all pay a toll to walk this path And it seems no one will ever ask Whether it's really worth the price I earned their respect, though I must always protect Against the weakness I feel; it must not be revealed And I can talk a good game, though I cannot explain Why there's a doubt I can't shed that I'm in over my head It doesn't take long to understand There is a cost to their demands And nothing is free in this life We all pay a toll to walk this path And it seems no one will ever ask Whether it's really worth the price I must grow stronger and tough, and just suck it up I've put my hand to the plow, so there's no turning back now It's just I never was told that our dreams will get old And the demands only grow the higher we go It doesn't take long to understand There is a cost to their demands And nothing is free in this life We all pay a toll to walk this path And it seems no one will ever ask Whether it's really worth the price
