It's such a shame I missed you at the part Friday night I was hoping I could say goodbye Did you get home safely? Did you drive with weary eyes What happened to you? Where'd you spend the night? And I don't mind if I become a ghost 'Cause in the end, that's just the way it goes People drift away, pretty colors fade to grey I guess that's just the way things have to go All the faces 'round me unfamiliar silhouettes Looking here and there for anyone I knew And I'm no socializer, there's a bit of disconnect No I'm not one to keep up with the news In the bathroom sink away from all the noise And still it seems I just can't clear my mind But you seem fine, going about your life I guess it's time to leave the past behind I think I saw you out there out the corner of my eye I was about to leave, and I never said goodbye I was feeling pretty dizzy when it hit me and I'm sorry But I couldn't think of a single reason why I shoulda stayed But there was nothing there for me anyway Besides memories of the sleeping dogs I woke And things have changed, that's a little more than obvious But it's so damn hard to leave the past behind
