Waking up to her face She stretches out her arms Sun stains the dirty pane She slowly reaches down Before I have the chance To greet my daily dread She says "Your skin feels so good Put away your messy head" She takes her coffee sweet out on my fire escape Says hello to the strangers cause they relate With a pulse and a hunger no time to be scared She said "aren't these cherries the best you've had?" I think I'm I'm smarter than I know I am But with her my games don't stand a chance When I ask her how we're getting on She says "everything is wonderful" Heaven isn't a place Don't believe a word they've said Steps can't be retraced Move forward till you're dead But then she places her hand In the pocket of my jeans Says "We're going to see a band Try not to overthink" She doesn't know how to argue only how to spy My ridiculous nature "Let's take a drive" Just to hear the wind whisper, the crunch of the leaves She says "Don't you feel taller among these trees?"
