Hearts Beyond the Fire

She walks through the rubble, Under Gaza's sky, Her eyes full of sorrow, While the rockets fly. He's a soldier on the border, Trapped in a fight, Two worlds divided, But love burns bright. Bombs are falling, Shaking the ground, But in his heart, It's her voice that sounds. Walls are rising, Skies full of flames, But he's calling her name, In this deadly game. The Intifada rages, With no end in sight, While history repeats, There's no wrong or right. She writes her message, On cold, gray stone, Hoping for a world Where love can be shown. He reads her words, And feels the weight, A soldier by command, But love is his fate. The rockets keep coming, Alarms scream loud, But in his chest, His heart beats proud. Their hands can't touch, Through the wire fence, While borders close, And it all makes no sense. But in their eyes, A fire still glows, That no bullet or bomb Can overthrow. October's streets burned, The cities ablaze, Protests and tears In a hopeless haze. In the darkness of war, With guns at the door, She dreams of him still, Though the world's at war. He prays for a day When the hate will subside, For a future where love Won't need to hide. Though the world keeps turning, Tearing them apart, Their love is the fight That lives in their hearts. Hearts beyond walls, In the dust and rain, They'll keep fighting, Despite the pain. Their love will rise Through the fire's roar, And no one can break What they're living for.
