Bones of Winter

Yea In elegance, an arrival clothed in autumns brisk A beacon through the mist, with a warm hue painted in your crest All who see your face, slowly fall into place Lining up to stand in the shadow of your wings But your wings were made of lead The omen carved in the wall I heard the sirens song The mask slips the colors bleed I see what lies beneath I see what lies beneath Further exposed, with every breath I see what lies beneath A rigid gust blew through your teeth Razors across the fragile membrane A shiver creeping down the spine Heels bleeding from the serpentine The blood pours out like the sea A frozen chill through the trees Choked out, unable to breathe Beneath the drifts lay the graves The fabric began to fray  As the reign called to an end Hope filled the cheeks again Blood returned to limbs Snow became the roots drink Exposing bones as the frost sinks I see what lies beneath I see what lies beneath Further exposed, with every breath (every breath) I see what lies beneath The winter bones, the wake of death (wake of death) I see what lies beneath
