For Granted

Before the sun comes around, twilight All encompassing resound Frail and flawed, broken bodies abound Stealthily expiration is found Common man will no longer stand We rot underneath excavated hollow land Riches cannot save that which turns to sand Lessons learned in spite of the ticking hands The child ages into weathered form Shaped by this world, imprinted scorn Neglected joys, shadowed by fear Time slips through fingers, clutching so dear Wasted years, reflected to your mind Immutable flow, chronological shackles bind Take the time, truly see what's left behind Taken for granted as the coil unwinds Ever ending, message pending Look right past what still needs mending Spiral ends within itself, never seen, never helped Torn between dreams and life, present time before your eyes Painted sky transparent guise, can't deny the end, the end of life At which point did we stop gazing towards the sun? At which point did eyes become fixed upon the grave? The air is clean, the trees alive, and yet we cannot be satisfied
