It's 30 degrees and I'm feeling like it's time to hang up the Christmas lights We all waited till December 1st, but now the "how-can-the-year-be-almost-over?" bubble has finally burst Crank the air con till we're freezin', while cicadas sing in the season This humidity is such a bummer, but this is Christmas in the summer Nothing but blue skies and fruit mince pies The breeze is tropical Tinsel and lights, staying up late at night Sleeves are optional Wearing bon bon paper crowns, we couldn't possibly look dumber But this is Christmas in the summer The cricket's on in the background every day and in the backyard every night The men around the barbie have a laugh; the meat is burnt, but she'll be right The kids are swimming in their cossies while the grown ups slap at the mozzies The state-wide fire ban is such a bummer, but this is Christmas in the summer Annual leave, shopping on Christmas Eve 'Cause we all forgot to plan Carols events, hanging lights on the fence While I'm working on my tan Wearing bon bon paper crowns, we couldn't possibly look dumber But this is Christmas in the summer It may not be how it's depicted in movies or TV But summer Christmases are still magical to me Wherever you find yourself this Christmas, let me make one thing clear It's "peace on earth", but especially the Southern Hemisphere Presents unwrapped, Grandpa's taking a nap Recovering from lunch The kids are outside on a slip and slide With some cheese and crackers to munch Wearing bon bon paper crowns, we couldn't possibly look dumber But this is Christmas in the summer
