See the Sound

Gold like the setting sun bathing yellow hills in flame Woods where cicadas hum, phthalo green Alone and dreaming In ruins where some daisies bloom Floats a Venetian red balloon Colours send me dancing 'round the room I caught a summer twinkle in your evergreen skies Under placid moonlight My lead feet are tripping me over And autumn's whispering"Come a little closer" Warmed by the fire, shadows on trees Lightning flashes in the distance Embers on the breeze I think about the morning As I'm swallowed by the nocturne sight The stones that form my bed hold me close and shield my head As I drift like a burgundy kite I see the sound dancing in my mind's eye I hear the sight; the ethereal beckons me There's solid ground in the hues that swirl around me My spirit's light forms a pallet that can't be unseen Visions appear - daydream seizure I see what I hear - chromesthesia A trickling tear that I can't wipe away Mirages entirely mine I feel the texture of the music Running through my bones, electrifying senses A lantern held aloft above the pavement A cardinal alights on my shoulder like a vagrant Soft swimming saffron, deep olive keys Trudging along down an old country road With the scent of a rose on the breeze It paints all my perceptions in collages that are just for me I wonder how it is to live life without this gift How colourless it must be I see the sound dancing in my mind's eye I hear the sight; the ethereal beckons me There's solid ground in the hues that swirl around me My spirit's light forms a pallet that can't be unseen I don't view the world in black and white 'Cause the colours are there, just out of sight A visual plane that comes to life in the bind Eclectic, wonderful, majestic, fanciful Neurological flares I recognise it as grand design - it's mine Even if no one else cares I see the sound dancing in my mind's eye I hear the sight; the ethereal beckons me There's solid ground in the hues that swirl around me My spirit's light forms a pallet that can't be unseen
