--- Beautiful Day --- On the news, early morning Hadn't even left my bed Took a minute through the crying 'Til I made out what they said There was an accident at dawn Both sides have launched their bombs It was a beautiful day Wandered out with a coffee While my neighbor mowed his lawn Only had 20 minutes 'Til the seaboard would be gone The pollen made me rub my eyes Not a cloud was in the sky It was a beautiful day Gotten used to thinking everything's the same But I finally stopped hoping for the day I could look around and find that everything had changed Now, finally Walked into a supermarket Drifted through the empty store Through the blue fluorescent lighting That's reflecting on the floor The backwards boXes in a row I never noticed them before It was a beautiful day Gotten used to thinking everything's the same But I finally stopped hoping for the day I could look around and find that everything had changed Now, finally The missles blotted out the sky I never thought to wonder why It was a beautiful day
