This is life Our escape every night No that ain't tears in our eyes Don't see bruises on her thighs Or the cuts he tries to hide Just forget it all right? Nah not aight Someone's opening my eyes Got me questioning the price like Is running from my pain worth this fake high Is numbing off my heart leading me to die? I can't keep running from life to lies But to the story I tried to deny, mine Through reality it's just fantasy The lies we try to hide are tearing it down Open your eyes take off your mask And realize we're all the same We know that we need you We know we need the truth So here we are, so here we are They just want me to sit by & watch the show To join the masquerade and to just let go To keep quiet about the problems so People can just dance and the worry won't But see I got a lot of problems of my own And I know I'm not the only one feeling so So I gotta be real and give em that hope And tell these stories that need to be told Cause I see these kids dying everyday to be known The cries of mama's with a child not coming home Feeling the bruises of the abused fighting all alone Those in the streets with fading dreams looking for hope The girl watching porn but she won't let anybody know The couple with a marriage barely hanging on by a rope The college kid who lost their life to an overdose The rich & famous who still feel rejected & broke These are the stories that need to be told To have a voice and let em hear somebody knows Stepping out of the fiction we try to write and hold To step into this real life we should've been facing all along
