My system to win lyrically Is just too easy to see Metaphorical, colorful, literal figures of speech Fan the flames of this brainmelt disease Just another gift from I to me This eccentric cognition just isn't the prison they said it would be I only like statistics when they're mine And the current rate of growth is just around one tenth x squared The dependent variable has a mean Of point five eight probability That I'll delete the whole damn song No joke, I swear (haha, very funny) I am not as subtle as I think I'm afraid you see my poetry is heavy-handed as brick Every time I put out a tune Feels like I'm spelling it out for you No, I am not as subtle as I think Sensibly, you might just ask me why (why do you do this?) If I don't want people knowing, Do I even want them to try? I don't really mind them dissecting me I'm already unraveling at the seams So implicity can be the state being implied [what is the point of all this?] [it's like I'm firing a shot in the dark and hoping there's someone like me out there who might know what the hell I'm talking about] [but is that what I really want?] [for everyone to decode these insane ramblings I call lyrics?] [or do I just wanna keep sweeping puzzle pieces under the table and hope nobody ever solves it?] Just between you and me If you listen carefully You may notice a pattern emerging that nobody cares Music has meaning to everybody It won't always be what it means to me There isn't a thing in the world every living human shares (besides like, being alive) So please take what you will, hear what you need No matter all the ulterior motives underneath And if you think that you've figured me out Beyond a shadow of a doubt You're probably too shy to admit it, just like me Nothing is as subtle as it seems On the off-chance that it is I guess you'll have no idea what I mean It's easy to blink an eye and miss Attentional bias deficit Oh, maybe I'm as subtle as I wish (no) I am not as subtle as I think 'Cause you only need a blacklight to see invisible ink But if the message won't come through Make it whatever it means to you!
