Shady days in summers fade as the heat grows closer each year And here we sit, on a dark porch lit like a fire boiling our beers Is it really time to say bye to the cold of the coats by the canes Should it really be time to say bye to the folds of the clouds when it rains Neon signs light up the world, saying they can cool down the days They're paid for by oil and gas what a strange and mysterious way Now there's something to say about what we've made Left, right, up, down, all the fears But there's nowhere to go when half of us know earths fever will kill us in a year I hope it's true that someday soon we'll all get together and say That we still feel the spirit of the cold of the clouds when it rains
