Past The Point of Fixing

It was a '91 Ranger with a dent in the door The engine was smokin and drinkin up oil So I took it on down, to my old friend The best with a wrench in this town He said, "your engine sure is runnin hot And the dashboard is lit up like Christmas time And a strange smoke is blowin inside Yeah I hate to admit but that ain't a good sign Well we can put in the time and hard work But there's no guarantee man this thing's at its worst And I know it must hurt what your hearin But some things my friend are past the point of fixing Yeah it's 2 AM and my phone rings It ain't the first, oh no, it's an every week thing I can't take your slurred words and drunken outbursts Of all the things you said I did that made you leave me So put the phone down and get you some rest We both know that talkin ain't for the best And sometimes you give up what you love To save you from hurtin Deep down in your chest Well we can put in the time and hard work But there's no guarantee girl this thing's at its worst And I know it must hurt what your hearin But some things my friend are past the point of fixing To that 91 Ranger engine problems and more Or that girl I once loved and fought so hard for I ain't one for quittn But some things my friend are past the point of fixing
