He's standing in the corner with pocketed hands She's sitting in the middle next to a keg stand There's tension in the air as he lights up a smoke They won't be laughing when they can't help but to choke Now they're running away, that house is ablaze, its a chaotic mess She's down on the floor, can't see to the door, fire burns in her chest Red glow in the night, time to fight or flight, he's feeling distressed Sirens screaming loud, he's cuffed on the ground, but he won't confess She's in an ambulance while he's in a Crown Vic In his back pocket he's got broken up match sticks She's fighting for her life in an unconscious state The doctors say she'll die before the end of the day He's running away, skipped town yesterday, trying to disappear He's changing his name, been dodging the blame, he's living in fear Been running the streets, just playing for keeps, he's almost in the clear Her family still weeps, but he's lost the police, and still not shed a tear
