At This Time

I threw a jar of my poetry sealed into the South China Sea All I expected was a broken neck when I mentioned I would dine for free You headed east while I dragged me west maybe one day we'll say for the best And though I retreat from any given test I hope you'll stick around for the rest I hate myself for balding slow after all this time to grow Maybe in Holland where the ceilings are low you could take me out for a show An exhibition of a later Van Gogh reminiscent of your pale glow You wind me up like a rotary phone when we're together and when we're alone I wanted somebody Like you to show me But heaven knows me That I'm still living a lie at this time That I still haven't regained my mind Sit in your house and I'm becoming a moth when you put me between your arms Little is much when a little of thought let's me sleep straight through alarms You sit in my room in the late afternoon where the lights of our histories align It's something I'll do without asking you why cause I know you know the grand design There is nobody Who would take from me What you know of me That I'm still living a lie at this time That I still haven't regained my mind That I am cautious and you are kind Enough to stay around and find That I'm still living a lie at this time
