Hey, getting older is fine! There is nothing you can do to stop it So you might as well stay on the bus! Thought I'm gonna stay young and boy-like all my life Then quite unexpectedly turned 73 (how did I do it!) Not for once did I think this is gonna happen to me While playing the fool at school Bumping heads getting black and blue Thought this was just what made life such a treat Never ever dreamt of grey hairs losing teeth, oh, no! Here I am! a case of mind over matter Here I am! if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! Here I am! The Oldie Station grabbed the music that I loved in my teens, Cheek My body knows my age but my mind has a problem with it I'm still the same old person I was back then A little less hair a little less chin A lot less lungs and the air gets thin But ain't I lucky I can still breathe in! oh, ho! Amazing! amazing! amazing! That stranger in the mirror's observing me Who's that old person it's hard to perceive With wrinkled skin that grey hair My memory's failing my head is in a spin But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in Here I am! a case of mind over matter Here I am! if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! I've seen it all, I've heard it all, I've done it all Just can't remember it all When shopping I may see someone Say "Hi" and have a chat, so far, so good Then, when the person walks away I ask myself, who was that?
