Had To Move On

Well I left my home out on the rural route I couldn't wait to get the f*ck out And see the world on the other side of this mountain Been livin' out here since I was seventeen And it still don't make no sense to me But no one back where I come from remembers me now If I could go back and do it over again I wouldn't burn as many bridges as I did back then But starin' in the rearview won't take me back in time I miss drivin' on the full moon with the headlights off Sippin' somethin' hard and holdin' somethin' soft Ridin' north of the Highway 97 cutoff And I remember you singin' from the overpass Starin' at the stars as the cars went past It was too damn good for it to ever last If I could go back and live it over again I'd take more time to take it all in But the past is already gone and hindsight's blind Hope you understand that I had to move on If I hung around I'd be dead and gone I took a look around and seen the odds weren't favoring me Can't tie me down or fence me in When the whistle blows I'll be gone again But that don't mean I won't miss you ocassionally
