Rings Of Ivy

Gravestones Tangled in rings of ivy Arching above us Stretching hands across the sky Glide into the evening hours I should've brought some fuckin' flowers The shroud of evil still devours Deep beneath the undertones Mangled and in monochrome It feels as though I'm not alone The more you try to tell me so Yet I struggle to forget That you and I have never met You're nothing but a silhouette A shadow cast on the vignette You're a blooming red rose Lying beneath the shadow Of a monstrous machine Spewing all its bile and hopeless saliva Across every corner of green When you thought you'd found your way around They start to tear you inside out Bludgeoned deep with weary doubt Nothing you can do without Rivers of smoke pour upward And the moon rise turns them silver I've seen seasons rearrange And engines roar like an industrial ocean When winter's face is pressed against the glass And the dying future becomes a bitter past Close all my shutters, pull the curtains tight And make my bed by candlelight Below the void
