If the people are losing faith Maybe it's time for a redo If the culture ain't going your way Maybe your mind needs a renew Your prospects will look too thin When the light from your faith has dimmed But if you can be more like Him Maybe the people will need you If the people are losing faith Maybe it's time for a redo If the culture ain't going your way Maybe your mind needs a renew Your prospects will look too thin When the light from your faith has dimmed But if you can be more like Him Maybe the people will need you I wasn't too sure I was gonna make this song My process got mad delayed I hesitated, didn't wanna take too long But also didn't wanna throw shade 'Cause being a pastor's like nothin' else As vocations go, it's unique You can't do it if you don't care for your health It's not for the faint or the weak But in another way, it kinda is though 'Cause if you're meek, you're blessed in Matthew 5:5 And if you operate from machismo You're vulnerable to a spiritual drive-by That's what happens when your M.O. is hubris You're always thinking, "whatever, yo I can do this" Then you run into the pastor with a bigger church And you don't wanna admit it, but yo it kinda hurts It's good to be vigilant with purity But what about ... insecurity? 'Cause the comparison game, you ain't gonna win And that envy is a gateway to other sins If God gave you a call to ministry The problems of this world are not yours to solve But the people you serve, are right up in it, see? So maybe it's time to evolve Not your physical appearance, or traits inherent But if you sense a movement of the Spirit Then don't fear it, He'll make your techniques coherent And start with the man in the mirror, he needs to hear it Submit to God, resist the devil and he's gonna flee But so will your people without humility True disciples repent and resist the flesh If your Bible's a browser then hit refresh If the people are losing faith Maybe it's time for a redo If the culture ain't going your way Maybe your mind needs a renew Your prospects will look too thin When the light from your faith has dimmed But if you can be more like Him Maybe the people will need you Lemme holla at the church planters, Who might be wondering why they don't hear hosannas When they announce that they're coming through And they're gonna bring God to the city, too? NEWS FLASH, God has long been workin' in the city and the neighborhood You didn't see it 'cause you'd rather be understood, then seek to understand Didn't consult the elders before you made a plan But maybe the elders are problematic, too Because the power, they chose to consolidate And when the Spirit invited the leaders into change They doubled down on proposals to automate But the church ain't the same as a business, More than just religious goods and services When the people start to ask, "Yo what is this?" Then your church should be walking in its purposes If you don't advocate for justice If your existence doesn't register much impact If you're raising up another generation of leaders Who must keep the status quo intact If you put off retirement Even though there's more than enough you got saved up 'Cause you're lookin' for the right man But overlook all the women in ministry God raised up Then what are you doing with your ministry? Where's your effectiveness, where's your fruit? Or are you coasting on models and gimmickry? Is your lethargy chronic or acute?
