Self-made, I never hated, but you got me jaded I see the hate and its looking awfully complicated 19, I didn't scream with my mom when he died I had to sit with her and wipe the tears away from her eyes There's no hyperbole, I mean I had to hold the tissue When life's abrupt I hold it up, so tell me what's the issue I never hated, never hated, but you make me jaded I see the news, another black man being subjugated We live our lives out innocent and yet we're met with torture I walk outside, look to the sky, I see buzzards and vultures We're dying soldiers in this place, we never asked for this Black is a culture, not a race, something you can't embrace I'm on a plane and I curl my hair up in a twist I start to reminisce the moments we all seem to miss I think you know these motha fuckas took us from the shore Put us in a store with a price tag nothing to adore The price has never changed I see the value on our names We die and we're to blame, because you can't handle the shame You can't handle the truth and still look at what we became What will it take for you to see that we are all the same I never hated, barely jaded, but you're overrated Your education deceits you, so please take a seat fool Please wipe your mouth with your drool and tell me I'm not a jewel You need to go back to school before you reference my cool I never hated, never jaded, but respect has faded
