There was a girl She was just a child Nothing could bring her to smile She hid behind her pitiful mask In her black fleecy armour she's safe Her eyes were cast down She couldn't see her own beauty Her spirit was battered and bruised She was just a child with no way out her world was dark and black And her eyes were cast down She was just a child young and full of life The world could have been at her feet But life was too hard so the girl shut down closed her heart and wept with her eyes cast down No child should have to live in this world One of put me downs A child should feel valued Built up not run down With her eyes lit up We can't walk by with eyes closed We've got to join the fight Show them a love they've never known Show them that they have a choice And that they have a voice
