State of Things

It seems like everybody's lost their minds And it seems as if we're running out of time Sometimes I wonder Is this where we belong? Because no matter where you look or where you run There's greed and hate and hurt and fear Sometimes behind a gun The night seems endless And I can't see the dawn Life gets harder every day And hope seems farther and farther away But everything just might turn out okay I remember when I was young The hope I held went on forever But now as I'm growing older, the universe seems so much colder Can we find a way Or are we reaching our final day There are times I wish that I could run and hide But the time for which we live is not for us to decide Oh but how you spend it is up to you So I can try to love the whole world even more And give my time and heart even when I'm tired and sore What else is one to do Love gets harder every day And hope seems farther and farther away But everything just might turn out okay
