There was a time, back in the 1930's When depression hit so hard That it nearly damn drove All the good people down to the ground The land became a dust bowl Times were so tough that they said it nearly killed the Blues Well now imagine that people So we've seen these hard times once before But I've still got those twenty-first century depression blues Hard time returned, harder than many before Jobs have been lost, business counts the cost The working man feels the pain once again Then you see the bankers with bonuses And M.P.'s with their false expenses It sure does bring you down people Well I don't care for them anymore Because I've still got those twenty-first century depression blues You've got to keep the faith Keep your hopes alive Because in times like these You've got to have the will to survive They're going to put you down You've got to get back up You've got to show them that you're here to stay They won't thank you anyway Well I know that times have been tough before But I've still got those twenty-first century depression blues Twenty-first century depression blues Twenty-first century depression blues
