Broken Bones

Two broken bones can fuse And can still be put to use But when that limb is straining Flesh is bound to bruise So when you walked right out our door I had thought it nothing more Than a time taken Investigating the cause, the cause Our arms stretched forth till breaking Searching for a warm embrace Two hearts and vows forsaken Separating Two broken bones displaced And muscles flexed can't take the strain Nor put them back together again And all their strength is sapped from Chasing phantom pain So when they said it wasn't so That you never had to go They just couldn't see for looking How could they know, how could they know Our words droned on mistaking Truths for ceaseless airs and grace Two minds articulating they're Separating Two broken bones displaced
