My expectations murmured They hummed a quiet song Pondering sin and murder Not knowing right from wrong The icy steps I took Went long and beyond my hope For love and peace Into the field I wandered Into the golden light A clearing past the forest Of wintery delight My shoes are getting worn But my destination is close But far, for me I could not see the signal, I could not wait for long The wind cut through my jacket, the holes whistled a song I deserved naught but what the frigid abyss had planned for me I knew my friends would arrive shortly Spring reared its ugly head And iridescence grew The light of greenish colors Project in every hue Of someone's heroism Still cluttering the path To fall, not all The corpse was cast asunder The bones, they withered, gone The hare leapt past the eyeball The maggots carried on The journey met its match And God carried on his plans But not for me I could not see the signal, I could not wait for long The wind cut through my jacket, the holes whistled a song I deserved naught but what the frigid abyss had planned for me I knew my friends would arrive shortly The blessings given were spent poorly
