Well I've been away for a while, now But I'm finally back around And I'm standin' here at this mic, now I hope I don't let you down Because in twenty-nineteen I fought the Big C Then twenty-twenty became My year of recovery And though I'm not the same as I use to be I'm alive Well this world is not the same, now Since COVID came around And the people, they chose sides, now As four million souls went in the ground And Breonna and George They opened up our eyes And showed the world The truth behind the lies And though they're not here, their spirit Is alive Well time still marches on, now And mother earth Still spins around And the birds still sing their songs, now And the mighty trees Still spring from the ground And the morning still comes And the people still fight They want to blur the lines Between wrong and right But when the day Turns into night We're alive We're alive
