Been A While

There's a scab on my knee from the time I fell Down the stairs by the driveway at my uncles house And all I wanna do is pick at it until I bleed But I know that the infection will do harm to me It is hard to stop myself Four dollars for the box of bandages Big enough to cover up where all the damage is Other than the time I fell I'd say my trip was pretty good Hadn't been around to that part of the neighborhood In a while In a while before that day It had been a while since I'd been that way Heaven knows I couldn't stay It was easy to let the years go by But they shouldn't go away In the end I find I'm grateful for The chance to meet again When it all is said and done I know my leg will heal But the distance from my family is another deal The more the time goes on the more I feel the distance grow Weeks turn in to months, to years and well before you know You don't know them
