My Tree

There's a tree out by the sidewalk And the pavement is cracked By the roots the tree has grown there The impression that it's left And the people that walk by Have got to watch their backs Or they will find themselves Tripping on the cracks And now I see A part of me Right there I care A part of me Is in the tree One day It will go And the people that trip On the cracks in the pavement Have got to let it go They're putting on a show No need to hurt the tree You can let it be Look before you walk Before you talk the talk And now I see A part of me Right there I care A part of me Is in the tree I know It will go Just let us be Me and my tree
