If you like it when you feel that rumble in your stomach If you like the sound of coppers rattling 'round in your purse Then close your eyes and ears to the lies and corruption And pray the next few years are the same but they'll be even worse When they ask you why the tears Just tell them you think Labour failed you And when you're starving and cold Ask yourself, why so blue? If you can blind yourself to the media demonising the poor Fleeing war torn lands for pastures new If basic worker and human rights just seem excessive Because you've been told their removal will not affect you Well then dry your eyes and get on with your life As the humanity drains from public view Look at that husk in the mirror one day and Ask yourself, why so blue Maybe someday you could learn That empathy is not just for the weak Solipsism may suit your outlook But it's not a strong platform from which to speak Pay your taxes and pray for sunlight To heat the poor bones of you And when you find yourself all alone Ask yourself, why so blue Cling to your sunlit uplands And pretend that all the facts aren't true When the union is broken and the masses have spoken You're asking why's no one blue
