Naked as Day

Sometimes I wish That I could scream So loud, so shrill All the buildings Should crumble down Leaving people Naked as day We disappear Into small holes Made of cement And made of stone Shutting our doors Showing only What we all must Sometimes I wish The scream would be So strong, so shrill Mountains would rip Valleys should drip With mud, with filth Everything exposed The dirt revealed The silt will show Beauty that glows As we all stand Real strong and straight Unafraid now Naked as Day Then comes nightfall Bringing with it Sheets of darkness Blinding us all As we struggle To be prepared For the next day The pattern flows Blindness and shame Hatred and gain Night and then day Now and again Until truth dawns Naked as Day
