Solitary

With all my feelings And every thought My body is drifting Without command   Drawn into darkness Collapsing night A weird expression Retracting height   A gleaming flicker In stellar steams Alike the lighthouse Deep in my dreams Why is there not a soul which tears away the shackles of my blight Which sees me drowning in this vessel? I'm alone with mortal fright While the waves are closing in upon my face Adjacent yet so far, you're waiting patiently for my return While I am suffocated by the thought of all I could not learn If all my striving and my hopes would end out here Fate has ordained That the men who went to the moon to explore in peace Will stay on the moon to rest in peace These brave men Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin Know that there is no hope for their recovery But they also know That there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice These two men are laying down their lives In mankind's most noble goal The search for truth and understanding In ancient days, men looked at stars And saw their heroes in the constellations In modern times, we do much the same But our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood
