We see love like The tip of that iceberg the titanic hit And we approach flippantly Arrogant and lazy We think we can just cruise right on past Like it can't take this ship down Like we unsinkable Turn the knots down a bit Just watch it Drift by As we stand on a little metal raft We translate as some kind of sea fortress Tempting fate... Playing in an infinite ocean of fire We crash Just tore the hull a little bit No big deal As we hemorrhage from the outside in Maybe we feel the hit Maybe even get a little startled But we go bout our business Got no idea the depth of flood ever rising Can a ship sink forever... Go bout our movements Unaware that everything our lives have been Whom we've built ourselves to be 'Bout to get tested Truth gets real loud when the screaming starts Waters slowly rising Bodies detect unfamiliar tremor Minds as usual the last to know Clinging to some illusion of indestructibility Laugh Out Loud And as we watch the waters rise Above the ankles of our Pseudo assurances We left to scamper round Minds crazed Salvage like roaches Precious belongings Clutching to familiar Only to prolong The inevitable sinking And here be the reckoning No room for lies What you are Naked and on display Even to yourself The wailing The death The picking and choosing Of the deserving and the not The hideous Crawling out of mouths Orifices of all sorts It ain't pretty But it is THE moment THE defining moment of our lives And what if.. What if we worshipped icebergs Paid homage Bowed in reverence Offering them Deep space to breathe the waters That forge them That are them That are us What if we fearfully Honored their power Felt the cooling on our skin The sentience in their Presence Allowed such Knowing To seep into our consciousness Dance with our emotion Cultivate Wisdom Over ignorance Wisdom Over arrogance Wisdom Over faith in flimsy metal rafts...
