Beyond the craggy rock pools the lighthouse winked its light And in the keepers cottage the old clock chimed midnight Moon Dog wagged a curly tail and crept across the floor No one heard his soft paws as he slipped out through the door The salty sloppy seaweed squelched softly as he passed He gently jumped the rock pools and he reached the beach at last Moon Dog loved nothing more than sneaking out at night To gaze up to the stars above and wonder about their light Hey ho! Moon Dog where do you go, Hey ho! Moon Dog hear the cold wind blow Along the moonlit shore he plodded softly on the sand He reached his favourite spot where the ocean met the land And on this peaceful evening waves whispered to the shore He marvelled at the Milky Way then he heard a distant roar Hey ho! Moon Dog hear the cold wind blow Where the sea is dark he heard a rumble and a crash Silence then the sky lit up with a huge almighty flash Pitter patter sang the rain as it rode across the ocean Moon Dog felt scared and cold watching the commotion Timidly he backed away into a cave close by A crashing echoed round the coast and something caught his eye Not far away near the rocks Moon Dog saw a glow A signal from a fisherman, his people would need to know Hey ho! Moon Dog where do you go, Hey ho! Moon Dog hear the cold wind blow His fear all gone Moon Dog raced back across the rocks Barking out a loud alarm his people got a shock The lighthouse keeper saw the storm and knew just what to do He called out the lifeboat team a brave and fearless crew Moon Dog watched them on the waves a rescue from the boat They brought him ashore wrapped in a blanket and a coat A fire blazed in the old wood stove, a kettle whistled loud Moon Dog curled up in his bed and made his people proud Hey ho!
