Freshman Year

It feels like yesterday that I walked these long hollow halls I remember blinding waxed floors and the metal lockers on walls All the quick chats and hustle to the next class are easy to recall I wonder just what these next four years will make of us all I remember all the talks and fights at the local gravel pits Everyone with a car got packed up and drove down to the events Anything happening after school like this you didn't want to miss The day after the loser had a bruise the size of a fist (damn bro) If we went back in time to school wouldn't it be so damn cool We could change awful moments that made us look like total fools We can stand up to that bully that always beat us up after school We could take our four years back and change all of the rules I learned more about life on the bus than I did in any class People I thought I'd never see again seem to pop up from the past Sometimes when you see them again it turns out to be the last So many friends or school mates have gone away too young too fast I should've seen signs and took notice of you sooner instead of regret I might have saved ourselves half a life of hell if I wasn't such an idiot I saw the signs and the chances as I let them all slip on past You'll always be the one I should've manned up to take the chance If we went back in time to school wouldn't it be so damn cool We could change awful moments that made us look like total fools We can stand up to that bully that always beat us up after school We could take our four years back and change all of the rules I met some of the best people I'll ever know in that dreaded place Friendships made and memories that you could never replace We were trying to just get time done to get out of that place From first day to the last in a flash and then you graduate If we went back in time to school wouldn't it be so damn cool We could change awful moments that made us look like total fools We can stand up to that bully that always beat us up after school We could take our four years back and change all of the rules
