Leap of Faith

We were just two kids playing adult with lots of time to spare We didn't know what we were doing, just that together we were well But time passed around us and we became lost with no aim And then it was we decided to take a leap of faith And we jumped right into life That river carrying us along And we both started to grow up With the experience of it all Growing up is not easy There's so much going on Life needs your full attention Sometimes you just can't see it all Now we're floating in a pond, it's easy to look back On all the things we've done both good and bad I reach for your hand, but you're drifting away, tears fall as I see you go And for the first time I see the wall we built while busy not getting drowned In the river of life Where we jumped both holding hands Somewhere I lost yours And now you don't want mine again I did not see it then I thought we were so close I couldn't see the tears in your eyes The current was way too strong So I'll wait and see what happens next, I don't regret the choices we made I learned from you and from it all, I've got new gifts that I can share Someday you may look at me again and see me for what I am That day we may hold our hands again and take a new leap of faith And jump back into life There's so much more yet to learn And we will swim together again With a whole new strength Jump back into life A new river carrying us along And wherever it may take us I know my love for you will always grow
