I spent a Covid night Just cleaning everything in sight Sun rose to have her say Hadn’t cleaned much dust away Despite the turning off of Macs Some data leaked in through the cracks To say today was 2020’s Mother’s Day And so I walked around and this is what I found Shiny things when left alone can weigh down the family home You wanted order for my world I hope you see how that unfurled On Mother’s Day, I won’t put anything away I wondered how I might Put all the mess of life to right Did you know in your soul You could relinquish that control? To shield from all that can detract Still messy life slips through the cracks To have its say on 2020’s Mother’s Day And so I walked around and this is what I found Order plays its part but won’t clean up a messy heart You didn’t have it in your own And cluttered up our family home This Mother’s Day, I won’t put anything away I guess when push it comes to shove We do such messy things for love On Mother’s Day, I don’t put anything away
