I keep complaining that I can't get back to myself When I do for a second I wanna be someone else And I'm finding this constant contradiction A little hard to live in I curse at myself for the way that I feel But it's the same trait I used to praise Cause it makes me real And I'm finding it a little inhospitable In this skin When you're at war With your thoughts And how you were before Kind of hurts to Think about No one can hear me now Remind yourself it changes You're going through phases There's a light here From the candle by the window Hear the rain Yes But there's a light here All the same I'm reflecting on how quickly that it all changed Yes the fall it was fast and the climb how it drained But just look where you are now Walking past the beginning Thriving through this feeling When you're at war With your thoughts And how you were before Kind of hurts to Think about No one can hear me now Remind yourself it changes You're going through phases There's a light here From the candle by the window Hear the rain Yes But there's a light here All the same Today I felt it there under my skin Something new yet familiar Nostalgia creeps in I think she might be back But I'm scared to scare her away When peace arrives and you're not used to it Ironically its presence becomes the opposite And I think she might be home And I'd like her to stay When you're at war With your thoughts And how you were before Kind of hurts to Think about No one can hear me now Remind yourself it changes You're going through phases There's a light here From the candle by the window Hear the rain Yes But there's a light here All the same
