The last shall be first And the first will be last Many are called Few are chosen The last shall be first The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner Who early in the morning hires laborers To work in the vineyard They agree on a wage for the day And the workers go to work Throughout the day the landowner Went out to find more workers Each time he went out he found more people to work So, he sent them out later and later throughout the day The last shall be first And the first will be last Many are called Few are chosen The last shall be first When the day was done the workers were paid The last were paid first and given a full day's pay When the workers who were hired first and worked all day Received their pay, they were angry because the got the same amount And were made equal with those who came last The landowner replied, I did you not wrong you I paid the agreed amount Take what's yours and go What's it to you if I'm generous and make the last equal to you The last shall be first And the first will be last Many are called Few are chosen The last shall be first
