A Monster's Tale

“Have I deserved to be me?” I would ask myself at night Dreaming I was free To show myself in the light Every reason not to stay Every insult thrown my way No matter how small I used to count them all A thousand years and more These woods were my own Stillness ruled before ‘til I no longer lived here alone Tales began to spread About a monster in a shed Jaws to swallow you whole A beast out of control Maybe he is sick Maybe he is dangerous Maybe he is evil Maybe he must be removed I always tried to be kind Did not a thing to aggravate But in the human mind Appearance bears all the weight I’m not proud but something snapped I hunted down them all and trapped Them in a pot and made a stew Guess the rumors were true Maybe I am sick Maybe I am dangerous Maybe I am evil But I shall not be removed
